As seasons change, our skincare needs shift as well. Approaching a dryer, colder season means less hydration and more irritation for the skin. Switching up your skincare ingredients to adapt with the weather will keep your face calm and balanced throughout the year. Skin-loving remedies such as raw honey, cinnamon, turmeric, and nutmeg cure everything from breakouts to dead skin cells.
Having a night in? Mix up this spiced blend of ingredients for a fall-inspired facial, light a candle, and cuddle up with your favorite book or show. Your skin will thank you for the boost of nutrients!
DIY HONEY NUTMEG FACE MASK
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. turmeric
- 2 tbsp. raw honey
For oily - add juice from half a lemon
For dry - add 2 tbsp. coconut milk
Mix all ingredients together until thick paste forms. Spread onto clean face (I like doing this after a shower, while pores are opened from steam). Let mask on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Finish with a splash of cold water to close pores and apply moisturizer. Hello glowy skin!
HEALING BENEFITS OF SPICES ...
CINNAMON - Brings blood flow to the surface of your skin to detox clogged pores, plump your skin and fade acne scars. Can also aid in drying out pimples to rid your skin of breakouts.
NUTMEG - Gently exfoliates skin without agitation. Improves circulation and prevents signs of aging and wrinkles. Anti-inflamatory properties make this spice effective in calming redness.
TUMERIC - Adds a youthful glow to your face. Used as an ancient medicine to heal wounds and scars. A compound found in turmeric, called curcumin, reduces inflammation. Known to balance overactive oil glands.
This face mask is completely customizable to your skin type. For oily or acne-prone skin, add lemon juice. If you struggle with irritation or dryness, mix in coconut milk. And for combination skin? Add a mixture of both.
