With today being Small Business Saturday, it seemed like the perfect time to introduce you all to Alexa, our only employee! (Besides T.J. and myself, of course!) If you've purchased anything from us in the last six months or so, there's a good chance you may have noticed Alexa's name showing up underneath the handwritten thank you on your order. She's awesome.
Hi! I'm Alexa Eby. I'm a 23 year old Messiah College graduate with a degree in Communication. I grew up in Elizabethtown, PA with my amazing family. The oldest of four girls, I've had the privilege of living with some of my best friends while growing up! Though I'm married and out of the house now, I still call E-town home.
Up until August 15, 2015, my last name was Hoffman. That was the day I married my best friend, George. George and I actually met in Kindergarten. Of course, back then he was afraid of me (I had cooties). After that, I switched schools and we didn't see each other again until high school. Around our junior year, we ended up in the same friend group. George finally admitted his hidden crush (of many years) toward the end of my sophomore year in college. We dated for a little over three years before our wedding this past summer. He says I still have cooties, he's just learned that they aren't such a bad thing. George works full time as a welder/fabricator, and part time as the worship director at Harvest Community Church.
I first heard about walk in love. through a youth leader who knew Brooke from high school. I remember picking up my first shirt from a kiosk in the middle of the Park City Mall, and putting walk in love. shirts on my Christmas lists every year. I'd always thought of walk in love. as the ideal company to work for, but never thought I'd have the chance to be a part of the team. Sometimes God has a funny way of bringing opportunities and people into your life when you least expect it. :)
What is your favorite walk in love. item?
My current favorite is the Lion Sweatshirt. It's super cozy and I wear it every chance I get!
What makes you laugh the most?
My husband. My family. Parks and Recreation.
What is your favorite book to read?
Just one book?! There are too many favorites! If I had to pick one (series), it would be Ted Dekker's Circle books: Black, Red, White and Green.
What did you want to be when you were a kid?
When I was little I wanted to be a teacher. I couldn't imagine ever wanting to do anything other than stay in school for the rest of my life. I actually started college as a Math Education major... that lasted one semester. Teaching is not for me.
What would you sing at Karaoke night?
If I was to get up in front of people with a microphone, I'd have to go all out. The song: Be A Man from Mulan. There may or may not be a YouTube video of some of my friends and I lip-synching to this classic Disney song...
What are your hobbies?
Playing volleyball is one of my favorite things to do. I'm not especially skilled at it, but I have fun! I also enjoy my fair share of TV shows and movies. In any other free time, George and I can be found playing nerdy deck-building games with our friends.
Do you love or hate rollercoasters?
It depends on the coaster. There are about 4 that I can thoroughly enjoy without terrible nausea.
What celebrity would you like to meet at Starbucks for a cup of coffee?
I've never been much of a celebrity junkie... I'd much rather meet up with my mom and chat about life over some soy lattes.
What is your favorite family tradition?
One of my favorite traditions is the passing of the Justin Bieber shell.
I shall try to explain... In the summer of 2011, the Hoffman family made a big reunion trip to the Outer Banks. We had about 30 people in a beach house for a week who all spent at least a little time collecting sea shells. At some point during that week, a shell was named and labeled "The Justin Bieber Shell." Since that trip, the shell has been mailed across the country, stashed in cars after holiday meals, and sent on a missions trip to the Ukraine (among other adventures). George and I haven't received the shell yet, but I'm sure that day will come... :)
Who knows you best?
Other than my Heavenly Father? George. And that is largely due to the fact that we were such great friends before we started dating. He knows, loves and supports all my weird obsessions and has learned how to make coffee for me, even though he can't stand the stuff. He's a pretty awesome guy.
