Meet The Designer - Logan Pyle

Recently, walk in love. teamed up with the ever so talented Logan Pyle and released two new designs and six new shirts! We thought it would be fun to interview Logan so you can all get to know him!

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

"I'm a 26 year old graphic designer from Springfield, Missouri. I got married at the ripe old age of 23. My wife and I are old souls, and we're a few weeks away from celebrating our third anniversary. Last August we had our first child, a precious boy named Gideon. They are the glue that God uses to hold me together."

What is your occupation?:

"By day I work in accounting to pay the bills, and by night I'm a husband/dad/freelancer. I usually feel like I work about 30 hours a day, but it's definitely worth every second. I've been into design since college, but about a year ago I started creating with my hands. I got so sick of using the same fonts over and over, so I just started drawing my own. I love what I do, and I've definitely found my niche in the design world. I like hand-drawn graphic design because I think it carries a level of personality and human-ness that is hard to accomplish through conventional design."

What are your current hobbies?:

"My hobbies are pretty much family time, drawing, reading, and I play bass guitar. I literally don't think I would have time for anything else right now."

What was your process and inspiration for the T-Shirt collaboration?:

"My sole inspiration for the "Take Heart" design comes from John 16:33 where Jesus says "In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world." That promise has carried me through some hard times.

I had wanted to create the "Our God Is For Us" design for quite a while, so I was ecstatic when T.J. reached out and told me I could make whatever I want. It's from my favorite chapter of my favorite book of the Bible: Romans 8. Nothing can come against us, because we're God's kids. The worst thing someone could do to us is kill us, and even then they don't win. He's for us, so nothing can beat us.

On both designs, I started out with some pencil sketches, and moved forward from there. I went through at least 6 pages of slightly-varied ideas for "Take Heart" and started over on "Our God" a few times. I sketch in pencil, trace in ink, scan, clean up any mess-ups (and remove silly hearts...), create vector art in Illustrator, then sent the files away to become t-shirts."

What is your hope for people when they wear the shirts?:

My hope for anyone wearing the shirts is that they'll be encouraged, built up, and more bold in their faith through wearing them. All art demands a response, and art containing the hope of the Gospel demands a bigger response.
