Who is at your table?

Last night was our annual team Thanksgiving dinner.  Every year we have the entire team over and Brooke cooks an amazing meal.  We sit, eat, laugh, play mafia and watch Elf!  This was our third year and as always it's one of my favorite events we do as a team.  Before each meal I will say a prayer for the food and then give a little speech.  I always joke with my team that I am not a very sappy person but this is the one time of year where I let it all hang out in an emotional speech.  This year, like every year, I found myself holding back tears thinking about what my team means to me.  I thought I would share my speech with you in hopes that it challenges you to live a life of purpose and thankfulness.

Who is at your table?

As I started thinking about what I wanted to say to all of you tonight I kept coming back to this simple question.

Who is at your table?

Who is at my table?

As we gather tonight to celebrate Thanksgiving with our team and look around this table we see some familiar faces and some new faces.

Some faces that were here last year are not here this year.

Some faces are here with new roles, new vision and new plans.

Some faces are here with big changes on the horizon.

Some faces are here with lots of questions about the future.

And some faces are here with answers to those questions.

We are all in different stages and places in life, but we find ourselves here tonight.  Sitting at the same table.

It needs to matter to you who is at your table.

The people at your table will help you, move you and shape who you become.

Choose your table wisely.

Since I am at the head of this table I was able to choose who sits here, at my table.  At the table that we call the walk in love. team.

I chose you.

I chose you because I believe in you and I believe that you matter.

I chose you to help build what we are building in hopes that when we are standing on that great balcony in heaven we can look back with pride and awe at what God did with our meager attempts to impact the world for Him.

Thank you for being willing to sit at my table.

Thank you for giving me a reason to keep pushing and moving forward.

I share this speech with you to inspire you to choose your table wisely.  Surround yourself with people who are going to challenge you, move you and make you a better version of yourself.  Whether you have friends, family or co-workers at your table make sure that there is a spot for Jesus.  He will change your life and it will be amazing!  Thanks! - T.J.
