"This, then, is how you should pray: 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.'" - Matthew 6:9-13
I'm sure most of you are familiar with some variation of this section of scripture. It's an excellent starting place when you can't think of how to start your own prayer.
But take a minute to focus on this part: "your kingdom come, your will be done."
You might have said this a hundred times, but do you know what you're asking for when you recite these words?
Your kingdom. God's kingdom. The Kingdom of Heaven.
Your will. Not mine. The will of God. What God wants for your life.
That's what we're asking for! That's what we are praying for!
"Your kingdom come, Your will be done."
