The Lord Thinks Of Me - VRSLY Devotional - 06.23.17
But as for me, I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer; you are my God, do not delay. - Psalm 40:17
The Lord thinks of me? Really?
It may be hard to fathom, but I assure you, He thinks of you... and He thinks of you often.
You are a child of God. You are His son. You are his daughter. Good fathers are protectors, providers and caretakers. In order to protect, provide and take care of people, it requires a lot of love, thought, intentionality and sacrifice. Your earthly father may not have lived up to these standards, but your eternal Father always meets these expectations!
For much of my life, I did not understand the love of God. It wasn't until I became a father myself that I got a glimpse of God's love for me. I have 2 daughters -- #KendallLu & #BlaykeHeather. They bring me so much joy to my life. While I am at work, I think about my daughters throughout the day. I think about them often. Yes, I love them, but I also understand they are 100% dependent on me. If I don't protect them, their lives are at risk. I have to provide for them because toddlers and infants don't have the capabilities to provide for themselves. Taking care of my children is 100% my responsibility, which is why I think of them often.
King David says, 'Yet I am poor & needy..." This doesn't mean he's without money or resources. David had plenty of wealth. Instead, David recognizes he can't save himself. Like a small child, David understands his Father is the only one who can deliver him to safety in times of need or difficulty. He fully admits he is in need of God's provision, protection and direction.
Our God is a helper. He is a deliverer. No matter what you're going through, He is thinking of you often. Because that's what good fathers do. Be like David. Be like a small child when dad gets home from work. Run into God's arms today. Be fully dependent on Him. Quit trying to save yourself. Quit trying to be in control.
He is your provider. He is your protector. He is your caretaker. He is your Father, and He thinks of you often.
