Seek first the kingdom of God... - Matthew 6:33
You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. - Jeremiah 29:13
Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His presence continually! - Psalms 105:4
A.W. Towzer once said, "To have found God and still pursue Him is the soul's paradox of love.”
Let that really sink in. When I first read the quote, I was in a season of complacency. I was okay with where I was because it felt easy, but it also felt shallow. I was a Christian, but I wasn't actively pursuing God.
As time passed, I began to feel unsatisfied. I was looking to the world to bring me peace but was only receiving chaos and confusion from it. I was basing my worth on my surroundings, rather than on who God says I am.
I knew I needed a change and had to start somewhere. My first step was to seek. Once I began to seek His will I started to see the rest of my life align.
As we seek, we learn to trust, love and desire a deeper relationship with our Creator. People's attention and earthly desires will never fulfill or satisfy us. We were created by and for our Creator. I truly believe He wants us to seek Him with our whole hearts because He desires our full admiration, attention, and adoration.
Ultimately, He knows His ways are better than ours, but He wants us to choose to acknowledge that. He desires us to say, "Lord I'm seeking you with my whole being and I crave the plans you have for me more than the plans I have for myself." It's not just a one-time thing. He wants us to continually seek His presence. He longs for a deeper relationship with us. He knows that when we seek Him continually, we are receptive to what He says to us. And when we hear what He says, we can act on it! When we seek, our hearts become aligned with His. His desires become ours and His plans become our hopes and dreams.
In 2017, I choose to continually seek God first with my whole heart.
