Come, let’s shout praises to God, raise the roof for the Rock who saved us! Let’s march into his presence singing praises, lifting the rafters with our hymns! - Psalm 95:1-2 (The Message)
When’s the last time you were excited about something? I mean, really excited - couldn’t sleep, stomach twisting in anticipation, unable to concentrate on anything else. As different as we are, so are the things that shake us to the core and make us want to twist and shout - weddings, vacations, sporting events, concerts, movie premiers, and the list goes on.
Reality, though? Most of us live day to day in the monotony of our “normal” life. And if we’re lucky, we sporadically interject some super-charged, fun events to fill our adrenaline bucket. But I think we might have it backward. What if we woke every day with an excitement and anticipation because… Jesus! He’s alive! For 3 days, He actually died, and then He rose and conquered hell once and for all! He’s with us 24/7, and He’s working out all the hard stuff into something really amazing and miraculous. He heals. He delivers. He’s constant and patient and forgiving. He alone is enough to get us twisted and pumped and excited. What revs you up about being friends with the Almighty God? Let it shake you and wreck you and unsettle you so that you have to shout about it to the world. Yes, like the psalmist says, let’s raise the roof!
