For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. - Romans 12:3-6a
According to dictionary.com, grace can be defined as,"the freely given, unmerited favor and love of God."
I reread that a few times to get it to stick, so in case you didn't I'll spell it out again.
THE FREELY GIVEN, UNMERITED FAVOR AND LOVE OF GOD. You don't have to earn God's Grace. He just gives it to you! And through His grace, he's given each of us various gifts, skills, and talents.
Some of us are great singers, speakers, or prayer warriors. Some of us are great at hospitality, and some of us are better at serving behind the scenes. And as Christians we're aware of how the body of Christ is made up of many members. We know that not everyone is going to be great at everything. And we are able to give them grace in the areas where they struggle.
But do you give yourself grace for your shortcomings? Do you give yourself grace when you sing off key or when you stumble over your words? Do you give yourself grace when you see someone who seems to have the whole "super-Christian lifestyle" together and you only own one walk in love. t-shirt? You're not going to be good at everything! And guess what? GOD GIVES YOU GRACE! Freely and unmerited. I know you can find some for yourself too.
